We have been publishing a chocolate Holiday Treat in the December Newsletter for 20 years now, but we must confess it wasn’t until last year that we got our test kitchen act together.
Now we are organized. Everyone in the office is challenged to bring in a chocolate recipe to be taste-tested by all and voted on in early December (by paper ballot we might add to protect the integrity of the process.) No more of these “Oh I think this would be a good one for the Newsletter this year.” No, we have standards now, just like the Pros.
This year it came down to a final bake-off between two recipes. Anne Doremus’ Chocolate Chip Sour Cream Banana Cake was the winner. A second entrant, however, was so good we may very well invite it back next year to join the fray in 2018.
From all of us here we wish you the very best in the Holiday Season. Sticking our necks out, we will guarantee that this recipe will not disappoint, and is a great way to kick off any Holiday Celebration. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream, or just eat plain. Yum.
